WORKSHOPS

HOLDING WHAT MATTERS

Explorations Into Finding Your Authentic Artistic Voice

Workshop Description
This immersive workshop invites you to create a personal shadow box that holds more than objects—it holds fragments of memory, traces of resilience, and the beginnings of your authentic artistic voice.

Holding What Matters is about connection. Through intuitive making, reflective prompts, and the thoughtful use of materials, you will explore the quiet dialogue between your conscious and subconscious mind. What emerges is not just a finished piece, but a deeper understanding of how your inner world can inform and guide your creative practice.

Your box becomes both container and catalyst—a place where meaning gathers and new directions begin.

What You’ll Experience

  • Guided exercises to access memory, intuition, and subconscious imagery
  • Exploration of symbolism through found objects, textiles, and written fragments
  • Hands-on assemblage techniques in a supportive, non-judgmental environment
  • Gentle prompts to help you recognize and trust your unique visual language
  • Opportunities for reflection and optional sharing

What You’ll Create
A layered, mixed-media shadow box that reflects your personal narrative and serves as a touchstone for future work and developing your personal voice.

Who This Is For
Artists, makers, and curious beginners alike—anyone interested in exploring personal meaning, memory, and creative voice through hands-on process. No prior experience is required.

Materials
A selection of materials will be provided, including boxes, papers, and basic supplies. Participants are encouraged to bring small personal items, fabrics, or found objects that carry meaning.
